NBC/WSJ Poll: American Voters Want More Women in Office

The majority of voters would feel better with more women in office, including 87 percent of Democrats, according to a new poll.

  • 69 percent of all women and 66 percent of all men said the country would be better off with more female elected officials.
  • 31 percent of women said they would be enthusiastic about a female candidate for office, with 17 percent of men saying the same.
  • 21 percent of voters said they would be more likely to support a candidate who supports re-electing Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., as House speaker if Democrats take control of the chamber.
