Woman ‘dragged‘ into pond by alligator

The unidentified woman‘s dogs would not leave the pond as divers searched for her on Friday morning, police said.

A witness saw the reptile attack the woman around 9.45am and pull her into the water in a park near the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino – a major Miami-area tourist and entertainment attraction.

Authorities continue to trace the woman after officers were called to Silver Lakes Rotary Nature Park and found a dog on a lead but no sign of its owner.

One of the woman‘s dogs was bitten by the alligator in the attack.

Animal catchers from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission have also gone to the scene to look for the alligator.

The woman‘s dogs have been handed over to animal control for the time being.

No additional details were immediately available.
